Cleaning - Removal of all dead, diseased wood and stumps. Paring and dressing of wounds. Treatment of cavities and waterpockets (draining or filling).
This is the basic treatmentfor most cases of tree preservation. It removes and seals teh places where fungal infection can enter the tree. Improves health, safety and appearance of the tree.
Crown thinning - Reduction of the density of the crown by up to one third.
Often an alternative to pollarding. Reduces weight, wind resistance and allows more light through the crown and a free circulation of air, improves health of the tree.
Bracing - The erection of flexible mild steel cables, attached to bolts and screw hooks.
Used to brace together multi-stemmed trees giving additional strength, and can be used on heavy lateral branches such as those oncedars.
Fertilising - Drilling holes into the ground around the root system of the tree and two thirds filling with slow release fertiliser.
Effective on sites where root damage has been caused or on closely seeded lawns where roots are deprived of air and nutrients.
Pollarding - Reducing the height of a tree usually by one third to a half.
This treatment is used where thinning is not sufficient to make safe or allow enough light. Care has to be exercised to use it on the correct trees where growth can regenerate.
Felling - The removal of trees to ground level by sections where necessary.
Probably the most skilled of our tasks is the removal by sections of large treesin confined spaces. Experience is essential with this hazardous job as large weights are involved and sections have to be lowered to the ground with ropes.
